So who would ever think of naming a helicopter after one of the world's more
bushy-tailed rodents? Well, apparently the French Helicopter manufacturer
Aerospatiale (part of the Eurocopter consortium) did. The result has become one
of the most widely used and known helicopters in existence.
The AS355 was developed onward from the AS350 Single Squirrel and whilst it looks very
similar, provides two gas turbine engines. The AS355 is a very powerful
helicopter allowing a large lifting capacity.
The pictures below, of this ex-Harrods machine, show how the seats have
been re-shaped prior to re-covering with a different coloured leather.
