MY PROBLEM SAAB 900 SITE
When I first turned up for a test drive of my SAAB 900 at my local SAAB Dealer the sales person was unable to start it as the battery was flat - so he attempted to jump start it from another SAAB . The result was loads of smoke appearing from the SAAB 900 engine bay I suspect a blown alternator diode pack. I now believe that somebody or something was trying to tell me not to buy this car and I should have walked away at this point. But unfortunately I did not. At a later date after the SAAB 900 was repaired I test drove the vehicle and the fateful decision was made.
I have owned three Saab's. A Saab 96 V4 - this was the best car I have ever owned well built and engineered I had no real problems with it. Even though it had covered quite a high mileage it was like new inside and out and was joy to drive and own. The column change and free wheel - clutchless changes space age head rests an unforgetable experience. The next Saab was a 99 GL Automatic 5 Door and to be quite honest was not in the same class as the 96 and no way as well built or engineered also the car suffered some problems a rebuilt auto box and new cylinder head, seized brakes. The Saab dealer in this case did a good job in fixing it - maybe? I never kept it long enough to find out. The 99 had not even reached 100K miles before I sold it. Not to be put off I decided to purchase a 1988 model year Saab 900 2 Door saloon.
Photo Saab 900.| Photo Saab 96 V4.Hundreds of cars, big and small, are recalled every year by their manufacturers when defects and safety risks are discovered. Why do we allow this to happen? As a consumer we should not tolerate it? The public are being used to prototype test Saab cars, for what reason I can only speculate. To save money comes to mind. There is no excuse for allowing potentially dangerous cars onto our roads. Most people would admit that cars by there very nature are dangerous. So to release them not fully tested on the unaware public must be a criminal act? No doubt Saab would try to apportion the blame on there sub component manufacturers. Comments Please? Check here to see if your Saab is a potentially unsafe products. If anybody has any further faults which could be added please let me know. Statistics from car manufacturers should be taken with a pinch of salt. You can manipulate the devil to look good - take a look at the worlds leaders and you will see what I mean. But cold hard facts cannot be denied. One crash test is enough because it is the one crash that can kill you check out the following links.
Saab Recalls. | Full Test Results. | More Crash Testing. The following link gives some idea of what depth Saab will sink to sell these cars. Yes I find it unbelievable as well they had a go at Volvo and we still let them sell cars in this country. I currently own a Volvo 740 which is a superb car. Volvo dealers in my experience can be trusted. The Volvo 740 and the 240 we had before, are high quality products unlike the Saab 900 which in my experience is low quality junk.
Saab Advertising| More On Saab And The EnvironmentFrom some of the e-mail I have received. Also reports in the motoring media and even the UK Saab owners club have had letters about the poor reliability. Some people are surprised by the poor reliability compared to so-called lessor marque's - this therefore is not an isolated incident. If enough abused Saab owners stand up and say what has happened to them or publish a web page Saab may take note and change their ways. I understand it is difficult for people to admit they made a mistake in purchasing an expensive automobile - please come forward tell us your tale. This site is under constant development. More venom will be added later. Photos Letters etc etc. If you have any suitable material please feel free to contact me. Press enquiries welcome. Do you want to advertise on my site?
